Awareness Programme for PG Student

ONE WEEK AWARENESS PROGRAMMES ON OFFICIAL STATISTICS FOR UNIVERSITY PG STUDENTS
The Academy has started a series of awareness Training Programmes on Official Statistics aimed at both faculty and students of Universities. While addressing the issue of inadequate responses for ISS/SSS examinations, a need was felt to take some steps to improve intake of students in Statistics at Post Graduate and Graduate levels. The programme for the PG students has been designed with the objective to promote interest among P.G students about Official Statistics. 2 programmes for Post Graduate (Final Year, Statistics) students planned have been schedule for the year 2013 -2014. One programme has been organized in June 2013 and other scheduled in Jan-Feb 2014.

Coverage:
The Programmes broadly focus is on National Statistical System and Role of National Statistics Office; National Sample Survey Office, its role and surveys being conducted by it, Planning and Designing of Sample Surveys, Basic concepts of vital statistics and System of collection of Vital Statistics In India: CRS and SRS: and introduction to Demographic indicators; Education Statistics in India; Measures of Poverty and its Estimates; Population Census  and Population Dynamics of India; System of collection of Agricultural Statistics in India: Its genesis and challenges; Gender Statistics, Price Statistics; Indian Statistical Strengthening Project Some basic concepts  and Definitions followed in National Accounts Statistics & Compilation of National Accounts in India; Millennium Development Goals: sources of information and – the present status in India, Different Research  Scheme and Fellowship Programmes of Govt. for statistics students,  Career  prospects in Statistics and Handling of Competitive Examination in Statistics
