DPD conducts round specific data processing training programmes for officials of the state statistical agencies as part of the capacity-building initiative to promote human resource development in official statistics. In these training programmes, data processing instruments are explained to the participants in detail. Participants from many states regularly participate in these training programmes. Special need-based hands-on training programmes are also organized/ arranged by DPD for the North East (NE) states as well as other government agencies taking into account their specific requirement in the area of data processing.

DPD regularly conducts training programme on large scale data processing for ISS Probationers and internship programmes for Post Graduate /Research students of statistics /Economics/Operations research/Demography/Applied Statistics etc. of Indian Universities in the field of official statistics. In-Service training programme for ISS officers and of officers belonging to different States/UTs are also conducted along with training to international participants as per the Training Calendar of NSSTA. In-service training programmes for DPD staff and officers on various related matters are also conducted by DPD
